Driveshafts and hinges – the general information The driveshaft represents a pipe by means of which the torque developed by the engine is transferred from a transfer case to differential of the main transfer. Since both ends the shaft is equipped with universal (kardanny) hinges. In front the driveshaft is equipped with the sliding coupling with a bifurcate collar of the kardanny hinge on the end.
