At detection of defects of a protective cover the condition of the corresponding CV JOINT should be carefully studied. Often on an exchange basis it is possible to get completely restored assemblies of power shafts that considerably simplifies a situation and allows to reduce temporary expenses. Before starting dismantle of components, carry out marketing, having found out the prices for necessary spare parts. Compare them costs of acquisition of the restored assemblies. Remember that the external CV JOINT is not subject to dismantling and changes assembled with shaft.

Dismantling
Components of assembly of a power shaft

1. Clamp a shaft in a vice with soft sponges. Check the hinge on existence radial люфта, testifying to wear of internal components. Check smoothness of a course of both hinges in all provided them a design the directions. If the protective cover is damaged, disassemble the CV JOINT, carefully wipe its components and estimate their condition.
2. By means of a small screw-driver unbend lock uvulas and remove bandage tapes of fastening of a protective cover.
3. Having hooked cover edge a screw-driver, remove it from sharnirny assembly (the old and damaged covers it can be cut simply off) (address to an illustration above). Remove the hinge case from tripodny assembly.
4. Mark the provision of tripodny assembly on a shaft pin.
5. Remove a lock ring.
6. Having used a brass drift, bring down tripodny assembly from a shaft pin.
7. If yet did not cut off them, remove protective covers of both hinges. Wind the internal pin of a shaft equipped with shlitsa with a protective layer of an insulating tape for protection of new covers against damage at putting on them on a shaft.

Check

| Carefully wash out all components, including assembly of the external CV JOINT, in solvent, washout from them all remains of old greasing. Estimate a condition of working surfaces of bearings of tripodny assembly and reciprocal surfaces in the case of the internal hinge. Directly to examine working surfaces of external and internal holders of the bearing of the external CV JOINT it is not obviously possible, however indirectly it is possible to judge a condition on appearance of balls, turning the hinge, estimate a condition of all balls. If balls are not deformed and otherwise are not damaged, therefore, it is also possible to consider holders being in good repair and the hinge is subject to further use. In case of failure of components of the internal CV JOINT sharnirny assembly can be replaced. The external CV JOINT changes assembled with shaft. |

Assembly
|

1. Put on a shaft protective covers of both CV JOINTS with bandage tapes of their fastening, afterwards plant on the regular place tripodny assembly, having fixed it a lock ring. Fill greasing in bearings of tripodny assembly and on a bottom of a cavity of the case of the hinge. Fill the shaft end with the established tripodny assembly in the case of the hinge and fill in a cavity of the last the greasing remains.
2. Pull a cover on sharnirny assembly, having tracked reliability of landing of its edges reception flutes. Adjust length of a shaft according to requirements of Specifications.
3. Having hooked external edge of the hinge, level pressure under it, then tighten fixing collars / bandage tapes.
4. Establish shaft assembly on the car (see. Section Removal and installation of power shafts). |
