General information

The moment of ignition is measured in degrees of an angle of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine and is important for operation of spark plugs at some point a compression step.

It is ideal, if the spark from a spark plug sets fire to an air and fuel mix in the combustion chamber at the moment of passing by the VMT piston of a step of compression. In this case the air and fuel mix will burn down and extend. Extending gases will push the piston down in a working course, rotating, thus, a cranked shaft.

For complete ignition of a working mix fractions of a second are required. Therefore for observance of normal working process of combustion (complete combustion of a mix) in the engine some advancing of ignition is necessary. The advancing is measured in degrees to VMT. If the advancing of the engine makes 7 degrees to VMT, it means that tension on a candle should arrive while the cranked shaft is in 7 ° to VMT of a step of compression of the first piston. However, it is fair only for a case when the engine works at single turns.

If the cranked shaft rotates quicker, means, also pistons quicker move. Therefore for complete burning of a mix of a candle should set fire to it even earlier. To answer these conditions, ECU corrects the ignition moment according to increase in speed of rotation of the engine.

Electronic control by the moment of ignition is known under the name ESA and is defined by the ECU program. Tracing speed of rotation of a cranked shaft, mass of soaked-up air, engine temperature, the provision of a butterfly valve and other factors, the ECU microprocessor operates the ignition moment on all power setting from cold start to a mode of full loadings. 1. Warm up the engine to normal working temperature.
2. Attach the OBD II scanner to the diagnostic socket being under the obverse panel from the driver.
3. Transfer the AT selector lever to the situation "N".
4. At the switched-off ignition according to instructions of manufacturers connect a stroboscope. The majority of modern stroboscopes are equipped with the independent battery. The inductive sensor of a lamp is established on VV a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder.
5. Untwist the engine to 2500 rpm for one and a half minutes and return the engine on single turns (650-750 rpm).
6. Using a crossing point from a wire piece, перемкните plugs E1 and TE1 on the diagnostic DLC-1 socket under a cowl (address to an accompanying illustration).
7. Check by means of a stroboscope finding of a label of ignition within 5-15 ° before VMT on single turns (address to an accompanying illustration).
8. Muffle the engine and disconnect a stroboscope.
